JODI WASECa
CONTEMPORARY FUSION DANCE
Characters and other forms
"Jodi Waseca... hobo, business man, gorilla, vixen, patriot, zombie, these are only a few of the characters you might see at a Jodi Waseca performance. Underneath this is impeccable dance technique with a broad range of vocabulary that only comes from years of dedication to one’s art. I have watched Jodi rivet audiences far and wide, always leaving them wanting more. A true artist!"

Jodi is a classically trained dancer, with experience spanning her entire life. She has studied Ballet, Modern/Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, Flamenco, West African, Bellydance, and Butoh, with studies in modalities such as theatre, Feldenkrais and Laban-Bartinieff Fundamentals. Because of her varied disciplines, she prefers to not label herself as one type of dancer; instead as a contemporary fusion dancer.
In 2005, Jodi took over Long Valley Dance school in Laytonville, CA for two years. As director, she offered classes in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, Modern, Tumbling, and Bellydance to students age 3-70. She herself taught 10 classes a week and oversaw 4 other instructors.
Jodi also brings theatre into her dance performances. Her formative years in Modern dance helped to solidify this stylization, so whether it is character work or just storytelling, you can be sure to be taken on a journey.
